How Yoga Asanas can help you with backache

Those who suffer from lower backache know that it is agonizing. The cause is probably stiffness in the muscles or ligaments. Yoga to get rid of back pain is done regularly and systematically.  

 

The following are some of the best exercises in yoga to reduce back pain:

TADASANA SAMATHITHI

If you want to do yoga to get rid of back pain, stand on a smooth surface with your bare feet together and heels touching the wall.

Stretch your arms downwards to your sides with palms facing your thighs and fingers pointing downwards. Stretch your neck upwards.

Distribute your weight evenly on both feet. Keep your kneecaps tight and the back of your knees open. Keep your buttocks tight, pull your abdomen in and lift your chest.

Look straight ahead and breathe evenly, concentrating on your breathing. Stay in this position for about 30 to 60 seconds.

This asana is good yoga to reduce back pain.

TADASANA URDHVA HASTASANA

This is a good asana in yoga for backache.

Stand on an even surface and exhale, stretching from your waist.

 Lift your arms to shoulder level with palms open and facing each other.

Stretch your wrists, palms and fingers.

Feel the sides of your body stretching.

Pull your lower abdomen in and turn your wrists to face the palms forward.

Now hold this pose for 20 to 30 seconds and breathe evenly while concentrating on your breathing. 

BUTTERFLY

This is a sitting pose in yoga for backache. It helps to strengthen the leg and back muscles and improve posture.

Sit straight and look in front of you.

Bend your knees. Keep the soles of your feet together.

Hold your feet with both hands and pull them in closer to your body.

Push your knees to the floor.

COBRA

This is another asana in yoga to reduce back pain.

You have to lie face-down and then curl up and back like a snake. When you hold this position, all the muscles of the abdomen and back get stronger and become well toned. This yoga for backache increases the flexibility of the spinal cord and relieves any kind of tension in the lower back.

Arch backwards as far as you can without feeling uncomfortable but keep your hips on the ground.

Roll your neck and look back up as far as you can.

Breathe and hold this pose for at least 10 seconds.

Take a deep breath and exhale as you slowly move out of the pose.

Repeat this thrice.
